Early Warning Detection Door System

Added Security for One-Way Exit Lanes and Restricted Areas

The Early Warning Detection System is an advanced safety solution that provides an added layer of protection against unauthorized entry through one-way exit doors. Designed for use with revolving doors, the system detects individuals approaching from the wrong direction and triggers an immediate alert—helping prevent breaches before they happen.

Whether used in healthcare facilities, transit centers, airports, or secure commercial buildings, this system improves oversight at vulnerable exit points and helps facilities meet security and life safety requirements.

How it Works

The EWD system uses a combination of motion sensors and intelligent control modules to detect, warn, and respond to unauthorized approaches:

  • Early Warning Detection: When a person enters the "Do Not Enter" zone on the wrong side of the door, the system triggers a visual and/or audible alert—signaling that entry is prohibited.
  • Lockdown Response: If the individual continues toward the door in an attempt to force entry, the system signals the door to immediately stop and lock, preventing access.
  • Uninterrupted Authorized Exit: Normal traffic exiting through the secure side of the door continues without interruption, ensuring operational flow is not disrupted.

Key System Features

Intelligent Dual-Sensor Technology

Two independent detection points monitor traffic flow:

  • Early Warning Sensor activates alarms or lights when someone approaches from the unauthorized side.
  • Lockdown Sensor uses people-counting technology to detect a confirmed breach attempt and trigger lockdown protocols.

Custom Corridor Configuration

The system is mounted above the corridor at a height of 7 feet and spans the full width of the passage. Corridors must be between 3'4" and 10' wide. If a corridor doesn’t exist, optional sidelites can be added to create the correct structure.

Seamless Integration

The EWD system connects directly to the revolving door’s master control and locking system, ensuring that warnings and lockdown commands are precisely coordinated with door operation.

Where It’s Used

  • Healthcare Facilities: Safeguard patients and staff by preventing reverse traffic at emergency exits or secured departments. Early alerts allow faster staff intervention and improved compliance with safety protocols.
  • Retail Environments: Protect inventory and reduce loss by monitoring and securing emergency or staff-only exits. Helps deter internal theft, unauthorized deliveries, and after-hours access violations.
  • Transit Hubs and Airports: Maintain control over secure areas with automated lockdown capability during unauthorized access attempts. The system supports TSA and transit safety standards while preserving smooth passenger flow.
  • Commercial Facilities and Corporate Campuses: Deter unauthorized access in lobbies, employee-only corridors, and secure exits while maintaining normal traffic flow for authorized users.
