How One School Tackled Access, Safety, and Oversight — With One System
April 23, 2026
Running a large facility means managing a lot of moving parts at once — secured areas during lockdowns, controlled access between floors, restroom oversight during busy transitions, maintenance response, after-hours events. Most facilities are trying to solve all of it with a lean team and limited tools.
East Providence High School was in that exact position. Three deans responsible for four floors and sixteen restrooms during eight-to-ten-minute class changes. They needed better control during lockdowns and drills, a way to manage movement between floors and corridors, oversight of restroom access between periods, faster incident response, and secure access during after-hours events like games and performances.
So they changed the system.
What They Put in Place
In February 2026, the school installed 10 Won-Door SteelGuard™ systems at restroom entrances. The doors run on timers — remaining
closed between classes and opening during active class periods. Students use approved hall passes and key fobs to gain access between periods, and the system ties directly into their existing digital hall-pass platform.
The accountability that followed was immediate. What used to require eight hours of footage review now takes about fifteen minutes. Staff spend less time reconstructing incidents and more time preventing the next one.
And it wasn't their first Won-Door installation. Back in 2021, the school put 33 SteelGuard™ systems throughout corridors and stairwells — used daily to manage building flow during events, maintenance, and emergencies. The restroom application was a natural next step.
Won-Door documented the full story in a detailed case study. If you manage a large facility and have been looking for a practical way to improve access accountability, advanced security protection or control movement between floors and corridors — without a full renovation or permanent structural changes — it's worth a read. The system meets fire code and ADA requirements as installed.
